Cricket Viral Video: In December 1993, Shane Warne played a vital role in Australia’s only innings against New Zealand in Brisbane. It was his 20th Test match, and his side had already accumulated a mammoth score of 465 for six, taking a lead of 232 runs.
Shane Warne’s classy knock
Warne had already made an impact in the match by claiming 4-66 in New Zealand’s first innings to bowl them out for 233. In response, the Australian batters, including captain Allan Border and Steve Waugh, hit centuries. Warne also contributed to the total with an unbeaten knock of 57 off just 55 balls. He shared an unbroken partnership of 142 with Waugh, who scored 147 not out.
Warne’s innings came off 110 balls, giving him the second-highest strike rate of the Australian innings, behind only Mark Waugh. Australia declared at 607 for six, before bowling New Zealand out again for 278 to win the match by an innings and 96 runs. In the second innings, Warne continued his fine form by taking another four wickets for 59 runs.
