Suryakumar Yadav’s record-breaking century against England
In July 2022, Team India embarked on a tour of England, during which the third match of the T20 series took place in Nottingham. In this particular match, England won the toss and elected to bat first. They managed to accumulate a total of 215 runs while losing 7 wickets. Team India, in pursuit of the target set by England, sent Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant as the opening batsmen. Unfortunately, Pant was dismissed after scoring just 1 run, and shortly after, Rohit also returned to the pavilion with 11 runs to his name. Even Virat Kohli could only contribute 11 runs to the team’s total.
Suryakumar took to the crease as the fourth batsman for Team India and showcased an impressive display of quick batting. He faced 55 deliveries and accumulated a remarkable score of 117 runs, comprising 14 fours and 6 sixes. Unfortunately, none of the other batsmen for India managed to make a significant impact in this particular match. As a result, Team India fell short by 17 runs. Despite the loss, Suryakumar’s remarkable innings left a lasting impression on Nottingham and will be remembered for a long time.
