Cricket Viral Video: The intense competition between Harbhajan Singh and Ricky Ponting dates back to 1998, when Bhajji, in just his fourth One-Day International match, dismissed Ponting with a fiery send-off. Throughout their careers, Ponting, regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in cricket, found himself troubled by Harbhajan’s spin bowling and was dismissed by the Indian player 13 times in international matches, more than by any other cricketer.
The start of a new rivalry
The rivalry began in the late nineties when Harbhajan stumped Ponting during the sixth One-Day International of the Coca-Cola Cup in Sharjah, a tournament featuring India, Australia, and New Zealand. At the time, Harbhajan was in good form, having taken four wickets in his first three games, including a 3-41 performance against Australia in the first match of the series.
After choosing to bat first upon winning the toss, Australia’s innings was impacted by the early loss of Adam Gilchrist in the fourth over. But Ponting and Mark Waugh helped steady the ship. Particularly, Ponting took a more aggressive approach, hitting 31 runs in just 26 balls, including a four and a six in the 14th over bowled by Harbhajan.
However, the Indian spinner ultimately had the last laugh as he dismissed Ponting in the same over with a quick stumping by wicketkeeper Nayan Mongia. As Ponting was walking back, Harbhajan let out a triumphant roar and pointed towards the pavilion, which sparked an angry reaction from the batsman, who confronted Harbhajan with a barrage of words.

After the incident, Harbhajan came under wrong spotlight. Even the on air-commentators said, “What was the bowler doing shouting at the batter like that?” “There’s no need to shout as the batter was anyway walking back to the pavilion. Harbhajan Singh is just taking out his frustration for being expensive in the two overs.”
