Miandad was taking a single after playing the ball down to the fine leg when Lillee purposefully stepped in the batter’s path and nearly shoulder-barged him.
Fiery Clash between Miandad and Lillee Escalates on the Cricket Field
This infuriated Miandad, who erupted in anger and attacked Lillee. A few seconds later, Lillee shamefully booted him in the back, infuriating Miandad to the point that he tried to strike Lillee with his bat in retaliation. Thankfully, the umpire was in the way, and good judgement won out.
Greg Chappell Supports Lillee Amidst Controversial Cricket Incident
Greg Chappell, the captain of Australia, defended Lillee by claiming that Miandad had initially provoked him. Lillee was later punished for his misbehaviour with a 2000 Australian dollar punishment.
