Cricket Viral Video: During the final day of their County Championship Division One game against Lancashire in Taunton, James Anderson missed an easy catch, giving James Rew a chance to continue playing as Somerset secured a draw. The missed catch was described as “an absolute sitter.”
James Anderson drops a sitter
In his first-class career spanning two decades, James Anderson has taken over 150 catches. However, during the County Championship Division One game against Somerset, Anderson missed an easy catch from James Rew, which would have been a straightforward grab. The ball came off an attempted sweep against Tom Hartley and was a top-edge that ballooned towards Anderson, stationed at square leg.
Despite barely taking a couple of steps, Anderson failed to hold on to the catch, collapsing to his knees in anguish. The commentator on-air stated, “There’s no excuse, there’s no rain, there’s no weird wind or anything… if someone dropped that in Sunday-friendly cricket today, they would be absolutely slaughtered for it.”
