Shane Watson commenced his Test cricket voyage with his inaugural match against Pakistan in 2005, hosted at the renowned Sydney Cricket Ground. In that historic game, he unveiled his bowling prowess by sending down a well-pitched ball down the leg side. Regrettably, during his follow-through, Watson lost his balance and tumbled, serving as a metaphor for the ebbs and flows that would define his career. While he showing the capacity to produce game-changing bowling performances, he also encountered multiple testing phases on the field. Much like that specific delivery, his career was a mixture of achievements and challenges.
Shane Watson delivered a significant announcement on September 6, 2015, declaring his retirement from Test cricket representing Australia. In a bid to prolong his Test career, he chose to withdraw from the format. However, his retirement wasn’t a surprise to dedicated followers of Australian cricket, given his earlier setback during the Ashes 2015 series. Having participated in just the opening Test in Cardiff, Watson found himself omitted from the team for the subsequent matches.

Throughout his Test career, Shane Watson participated in 59 matches, amassing a total of 3731 runs and taking 75 wickets. In One Day Internationals (ODIs), he featured in 190 matches, achieving a score of 5757 runs and securing 168 wickets.
