Cricket Viral Video: During India’s cricket tour of Australia in 2014, Virat Kohli showed his exceptional skills on Australian soil. Besides amassing a significant number of runs against the Australian bowlers, he also assumed the role of the full-time Test team captain by the series’ conclusion. However, the series also included several controversies.
Kohli commenced the tour with two centuries in Adelaide, encountered some challenges in the subsequent match in Brisbane, but mounted a strong comeback with a noteworthy 169-run performance in Melbourne. Despite facing attempts by the opponents, including aggressive sledging and tactics by bowlers like Mitchell Johnson to disrupt him, Kohli remained resilient.
Epic clash between Kohli & Johnson
While excelling during his tour of Australia, Kohli was closing in on his third century when, in a typical cricket scenario, Australian players resorted to sledging in an attempt to distract and unsettle him. A notable incident unfolded during the 83rd over of the game when Kohli was just 16 runs shy of reaching his century. Mitchell Johnson, known for his success in dismissing England’s batsmen during the 2013/14 Ashes, tried to unnerve Kohli by throwing a ball at him.
Following the impact of Johnson’s delivery, Kohli experienced discomfort, but he quickly composed himself and concluded the over by striking a boundary. This incident marked not the first time that Johnson had struck Kohli during the series; in a previous match, Kohli was struck on the helmet by one of Johnson’s bouncers, leading to a heated confrontation between the two players that required umpires and teammates to intervene in order to diffuse the situation. The game even came to a temporary halt for a few minutes.

India endured a challenging start to the series, suffering defeat in the first Test match and also losing the second in Brisbane. However, they salvaged a draw in the third Test. Following this match, there was a startling announcement from Dhoni, who declared his retirement from Test cricket, thrusting Kohli into the role of Test team captain unexpectedly. The fourth and final Test ended in a draw, ultimately granting Australia a series victory with a 2-0 scoreline.
