Cricket Viral Video: The emergence of Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson into the spotlight occurred during the 2008 U19 World Cup. Both the players were leading their side and went on to become one of the greatest for their respective countries with time. A lesser-known fact is that these two players engaged in a unique bowler-batsman duel, where Kohli’s gentle medium-pace bowling outplayed Williamson in the semifinal match.
While Virat Kohli’s batting prowess has gained increasing respect over time, his bowling action has become more amusing. Nevertheless, his sporadic bowling, marked by an unusual hop and a rigid release, remained a notable aspect during the initial phases of his career.
Virat Kohli dismisses Kane Williamson
Kohli’s four-wicket haul during the 2008 U19 World Cup spanned across six matches, with two of those wickets secured against New Zealand in the semi-final encounter. As the 20th over unfolded, New Zealand was at 57-2, with their captain, Williamson, positioned at the batting crease. It was at this point that India’s captain, Kohli, took on the role of the sixth bowler. In the course of his fourth over, Kohli executed a skillfully directed angled delivery from beyond the crease, prompting Williamson to attempt a flick to deflect the ball.
Responding swiftly, the wicketkeeper, Shreevats Goswami, swiftly moved into action, sliding over to grasp the ball. He then efficiently dislodged the bails before Williamson could regain his position at the crease. Although there was an initial wide ball call, Kohli’s efforts bore fruit as Williamson was eventually deemed out by the third umpire.

Following a single over, Kohli resumed his active participation in the game by dismissing Fraser Colson. Throwing a well-pitched length ball that skidded and encroached upon the off-stump, Kohli effectively sent Colson back to the pavilion. Significantly, Kohli’s substantial contribution of 43 runs from the No. 4 position played a pivotal role in India’s successful pursuit of the target. Furthermore, the pivotal seven overs he bowled also played a crucial role in restricting New Zealand to a total of 205-8.
