Despite being renowned for his calm demeanour, MS Dhoni once had to endure abuses from a senior team mate.
Dhoni and Rahul Dravid missed the catch
Dhoni was involved in this altercation in 2005, when he barely had entered the world of international cricket. Ashish Nehra, a fairly seasoned player at the time, mistreated Dhoni. In the 2005 ODI in Ahmedabad against Pakistan, Mahendra Singh Dhoni received verbal abuse. Actually, Ashish Nehra bowled a good ball in the Pakistani innings’ fourth over, on which Shahid Afridi’s catch went between wicketkeeper Dhoni and Rahul Dravid, who was positioned in the slips.
Ashish Nehra was enraged because neither of the two players were able to capture the ball. Nehra first abused Dhoni before chastising him for missing the catch. The stumps mic recorded every detail of Nehra. Dhoni being a younger player, did not respond to Nehra. As a result, the incident did not escalate.

India paid a high price for not catching Shahid Afridi on that ball. Afridi scored 40 runs in 23 balls after his catch was missed at a personal score of 10 runs. Pakistan reached their lofty 316-run tareget on the last ball. Speaking of Ashish Nehra, he let up 75 runs in 9 overs without picking up a single wicket. In an interview, Ashish Nehra also brought up the issue and expressed his continued shame over his actions. After the game, Nehra said that Dhoni was not upset with him, but this sort of behaviour is unacceptable.
