IPL Match: CSK Coach Gives Injury Update Of MS Dhoni Pain

In the first match of the 16th season of IPL, Gujarat Titans started the tournament with a win by defeating Chennai Super Kings by five wickets. The match may have been played at Gujarat’s home ground Narendra Modi Stadium, but the most talked about was Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Along with Chennai, the fans of Gujarat were also seen supporting Dhoni during the entire match.

Worrying news came to the fans at the end of the match. Dhoni dived to stop Deepak Chahar’s ball in the 19th over of Gujarat’s innings. He could not stop the ball. The ball hit the pads of Rahul Tewatia. Four runs of leg bye were added to Gujarat’s account. Dhoni was seen moaning from the injury after diving. He immediately caught hold of his leg. Somehow he got up. Dhoni looked upset for some time. After that he continued wicketkeeping.

Fleming gave information on Dhoni’s injury

After the match, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming gave an update on Dhoni’s injury. Fleming said that Dhoni was having pain in his knee before the tournament. Fleming said, “He was nursing a sore knee throughout the month of pre-season. Today was just cramping. He is not as quick as he was 15 years ago, but still a great captain. He is still tremendous with the bat. He knows his limits.”

Even before the opening match, different news had come out about Dhoni. It was being said in the media reports that Dhoni would not be able to play in the match due to injury.

However, this did not happen. He landed on the ground. He scored runs at a strike rate of 200 while batting. He landed at the crease after the dismissal of Ravindra Jadeja on the fourth ball of the 18th over. Dhoni scored an unbeaten 14 runs in seven balls. When Dhoni hit the third ball of the 20th over for a six, the whole stadium was in jubilation.

Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni also achieved a big achievement in this match. He completed 200 sixes for Chennai Super Kings. He has become the fifth batsman to hit 200 sixes for a single team. Chris Gayle is on top in this matter. He had hit 239 sixes for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). AB de Villiers has hit 238 sixes for RCB, Kieron Pollard has hit 223 for Mumbai Indians and Virat Kohli has hit 218 sixes for RCB.
