Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 27 runs to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) title for the fourth time on Friday on the back of a lucrative half-century from Faf du Plessis and a brilliant comeback from the bowlers.
Chennai Super Kings batsmen Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis made a big record in the title match of IPL 2021. Today he did the work that Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers have done for Bangalore at one time.
Chennai Super Kings opener Faf du Plessis scored 86 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders in the final match of IPL 2021 to take the team to a respectable score of 192 runs. After losing the toss, Ruturaj and du Plessis gave a good start to CSK’s team and put a 61-run partnership for the first wicket. Sunil Narine got his first breakthrough in the form of Ruturaj for KKR. Ruturaj played a brilliant innings of 32 runs in 27 balls.

After this, Robin Uthappa, who came to bat, supported Duplessis well and both added 63 runs for the second wicket. During this, Uthappa scored 31 runs with a strikerate of over 200. In the end, Moeen Ali also opened his hands and scored 37 runs in 20 balls.
Ruturaja won the Orange Cap of IPL 2021 on the basis of this brilliant innings of 32 runs, while Du Plessis missed out by just 2 runs. Gaikwad scored 635 while Du Plessis scored 633 runs in this season. Before this match, the Orange Cap was with KL Rahul of Punjab Kings, who scored 626 runs before the playoffs.
This target of 193 runs is challenging for KKR, but in the titles that KKR have won so far, they have achieved a similar target. In 2012, he won the title by chasing a target of 191 runs by CSK, while in 2014 he won the trophy while chasing 200 runs in the final against Punjab. Now it has to be seen whether KKR can achieve this difficult target for the third time or not.
