CSK vs DC IPL 2023: In the 55th match of IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings has defeated Delhi Capitals by a margin of 27 runs. The match took place at M.Chidambram Stadium, Chennai. CSK won the toss and chose to bat first. Their batting unit faced regular setbacks and scored 167/8 in 20 overs. In response, Delhi Capitals could muster just 140/8 in 20 overs. CSK continues their position at the second spot with 15 points.
CSK bowlers defend the target
Coming to chase a mid-level target, DC had a poor start as they lost skipper David Warner was dismissed for a two-ball duck. Philip Salt appeared to be in good touch but he could also score 17 off 11 balls. Manish Pandey stabilised the innings with his steady knock of 27 runs in 29 balls. However, he was involved in a runout of Mitchell Marsh (5 off 4) which further jolted the innings. Their inning was quite similar to CSK.
In the powerplay, they scored 47 runs while losing three wickets. At one point, their scorecard read 25/3. Rilee Rossouw played a sturdy knock of 35 runs in 37 balls. Axar Patel tried to take his team forward but he was dismissed for a score of 21 runs in 12 balls. The innings consisted of good fielding, ensuring CSK successfully defends the target. Pathirana picked a three-wicket haul while Deepak Chahar grabbed a couple of wickets. Meanwhile, Jadeja picked a wicket each as well. This is second defeat for DC in the last five matches.
CSK batters fall flat in building target
Earlier, MS Dhoni chose to bat first after winning the toss. However, the decision wasn’t quite-effective as no batter could score more than 25+ runs. Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 24 runs off 18 balls. Devon Conway scored 10, while Moeen Ali scored 21. Shivam Sube high-scored 25 runs, Rayudu scored 23 and Jadeja scored 21. DC’s bowling attack was quite ferocious as they kept on picking wickets at regular intervals.
MS Dhoni came in the end and played a small cameo of 20 runs in 9 balls, hitting a boundary and two sixes. The team scored 49 runs within the powerplay and lost one wicket. Mitchell Marsh and Kuldeep Yadav picked a three-wicket haul. Khaleel Ahmed & Ishan picked a couple of wickets in the match.
