CSK vs KKR IPL 2023: In the 61st match of IPL 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders has defeated Chennai Super Kings by a margin of six wickets. The match took place at CSK’s home ground M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat first. Riding on Shivam Dube’s valiant 34-ball-48*, the home team managed to post 144/6 in 20 overs. In response, KKR had a few setbacks at the start of their innings but skipper Nitish Rana & Rinku Singh stitched a match-winning partnership, and chased down the target with 9 balls to spare.

Nitish & Rinku shine in stunning chase

Coming to chase a rather modest total of 145, they had a poor start as the visitors lost opener Gurbaz in the first over for a score of one run in 4 balls. Jason Roy was dismissed soon as well with a score of 12 runs in 15 balls. Venkatesh Iyer continued his poor patch, scoring 9 off 4 balls. His rhythm appears to have diminished after the few matches from the start. In the powerplay, they could score just 46 runs while losing three wickets.

Skipper Nitish Rana (53 off 43) and Rinku Singh (54 off 43) then took on the game as they stitched together a partnership of 99 runs for the fourth wicket. Deepak Chahar led the bowling unit with 3/27 while no other bowler could pick the wicket. Rinku Singh was runout by Moeen Ali.

Shivam Dube leads batting charge

Earlier, MS Dhoni opted to bat first after winning the toss. His team scored 52 runs within the powerplay while losing 1 wicket. Shivam Dube was the leading run-scorer with 48* runs off 34 balls, hitting one boundary and three maximums. Regular fall of wickets, however, restricted them from getting to a big total.

Ruturaj scored 16, while Devon Conway remained the second leading scorer with 30 runs off 28 balls. Rahane scored 16 as well while it was another bad day at the office for Rayudu as he was dismissed for a score of 4 runs in 7 balls. Jadeja scored 20 off 24 balls while Dhoni remained unbeaten at 2 runs off 3 balls. Chakravarthy (2/36) and Narine (2/16) led the bowling unit for KKR while Vaibhav Arora (1/30) also took a wicket.
