CSK vs PBKS IPL 2023: In the 41st match of IPL 2023, the first match of the doubleheader on Sunday, Punjab Kings has defeated Chennai Super Kings by a margin of four wickets with 3 balls to spare. The match took place at Chepauk Stadium, Chennai. MS Dhoni opted to bat first after winning the toss. With Devon Conway’s blistering 92* run knock, CSK managed to post 200/4 in 20 overs. In response, PBKS managed to chase down the target on the last ball. Three runs were required on the last ball, which they managed to pull off by running. PBKS has also become the first team to chase down a 200+ score at this venue.

PBKS’ dream chase

In their chase of a mammoth score of 201, they had an ideal start scoring 46 runs in just 4 overs without losing any wickets. However, the regular fall of wickets from thereon affected their chase. Opener and skipper Shikhar Dhawan scored 28 off 15 balls while Prabhsimran Singh played a small cameo of 42 runs in 24 balls.

Atharva Taide didn’t have a good day and scored 13 runs in 17 balls. Meanwhile, Liam Livingstone showed hope to the team by hitting 3 sixes and a boundary in a single over before being dismissed for a score of 40 runs in 24 balls. Sam Curran scored 29 off 20 balls. In the end, Jitesh Sharma scored 21 off 10 while Sikandar Raa slammed 13* off 7 balls and won the match for his team. Tushar Deshpande picked a three-wicket haul, and Ravindra Jadeja picked a couple of wickets each. Pathirana grabbed a wicket as well.

Devon & Dhoni’s brilliance shines

Earlier, CSK won the toss and opted to bat first in the game. Opener Devon Conway lit up the stadium with his blistering knock of 92* in 52 balls, hitting 16 boundaries and a maximum. Ruturaj Gaikwad also played a crucial knock of 37 runs in 31 balls. Shivam Dube strengthened the middle order with 28 runs off 17 balls.

Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja couldn’t do much significant in the end as they both scored just 10 runs and 12 runs respectively. MS Dhoni came in the last over and did his job by hitting two sixes on the last two balls as he scored 13* in 4 balls. Arshdeep, Sam Curran, Raza, and Rahul Chahar picked a wicket each.
