CSK vs RR IPL 2023: The thrilling encounter between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals is currently underway at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. The home team, for the first time, managed to score 200 runs at their ground. In response, CSK did not have an ideal start and their batting was further jolted by R Ashwin who took two wickets in one over dismissing Rahane and Rayudu.
R Ashwin bags two wickets in three balls
The pivotal moment occurred in the 10th over of the innings when Rajasthan Royals (RR) were firmly in control, having claimed two swift wickets in the preceding overs. Ajinkya Rahane had shown promise, accumulating 15 runs from 13 deliveries, before deciding to challenge Ravichandran Ashwin. While advancing down the track, Rahane found himself too close to the deceptive carrom ball, resulting in a failed attempt to clear the long-on boundary. Jos Buttler swiftly moved to his right and executed a commendable catch, thus ending Rahane’s innings and sending him back to the pavilion.
Following the dismissal of Ajinkya Rahane, Ashwin swiftly sent Ambati Rayudu back to the pavilion without scoring a run.
Rayudu, who was specifically brought in as an impact player, unfortunately couldn’t make a significant contribution with the bat. His struggles against Ashwin culminated in his dismissal on just the second ball he faced. Ashwin cleverly delivered an off-break outside the off-stump, enticing Rayudu to attempt a slog sweep. However, Rayudu couldn’t connect the shot effectively, resulting in a comfortable catch for Jason Holder positioned near deep mid-wicket.
