DC vs KKR IPL 2023: In the 28th match of IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals has defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by a margin of four wickets in the low-scoring affair. The match took place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. DC bowlers had a great performance in the match as they bowled out KKR batters for just 127 runs, with only three players getting to the double-digit mark. In response, the home team chased down the target with four balls to spare after managing to get through a batting collapse in the middle overs.
This is also the first victory for the team this season out of six games, while it’s a back-to-back defeat for KKR. Ishant Sharma also made his comeback to the IPL after two years. Earlier, the rain had delayed the game’s start by one hour. Apple CEO Tim Cook was also spotted enjoying the match from the stands with Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor and BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla.
DC trembles through their innings
Coming to chase a low total of 128 runs, Delhi Capitals had an ideal start in the game as their opener & skipper David Warner found his rhythm back and slammed yet another fifty but with a better strike rate. Opener Prithvi Shaw failed yet again and scored just 13 runs off 11 balls, while David Warner slammed 57 off 41 balls, hitting eleven boundaries.
Mitchell Marsh scored 2 off 9 balls while debutant Philip Salt scored 5 off 3 balls. However, Axar Patel (19* off 22) and Manish Pandey (21 off 23) and won the game for their team. Varun Chakravarthy, Nitish Rana & Anukul Roy grabbed a couple of wickets each.
KKR batters fall like a pack of cards
Earlier, David Warner led Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to field first in the clash. Their bowlers showed a combined team effort and wreaked havoc against the KKR batters. Jason Roy, the opener, was the highest run-scorer for the team with a score of 43 runs in 39 balls. Andre Russell came in the end and slammed three sixes in the final over, and ended up being the second-highest run scorer with 38 runs in 31 balls, hitting a boundary and four maximums.
Mandeep scored 12 runs off 11 balls, while no other batter could even reach the two-figure mark. The centurion from the last match, Venkatesh Iyer, was dismissed for a duck while Rinku Singh could score just 6 runs off 8 balls. They had lost 9 wickets at 96 runs and scored 39 runs for the last-wicket partnership. Ishant, Nortje, Axar, and Kuldeep Yadav grabbed a couple of wickets each while Mukesh Kumar also picked a wicket.
