Diamond League Final: Neeraj Chopra is reaching milestones back to back. Now, he created history and became the First Indian Player to win the Diamond Trophy, the prestigious title in the final of the Diamond League series in Men’s Javelin. 24-year-old Neeraj Chopra won the Olympic Championship from Tokyo, he threw 88.44m there to finish on the top step of the podium. Neeraj finished ahead of Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch and Germany’s Julian Webber to create history.
The Indian javelin star began with a foul while Jakub took the lead in the first attempt with 84.15m throw. However, Neeraj made his comeback in the second attempt and threw 88.44m. After this, Neeraj threw 88.00m in his third attempt and 86.11m in his 4th attempt. 87.00m in his 5th attempt and 83.60 in his final attempt. On the other hand, Vadlejch finished 2nd with an attempt of 86.94m.

Neeraj’s 3 throws were better than the rest of the players and these throws took him to create history in the final of the Diamond League.

Neeraj is creating history since the start of his career. He won the Olympic Gold in 2021, the Asian Games Gold in 2018, the Commonwealth Games Gold in 2018, and the World Athletics Championships silver in 2022. He is winning back-to-back medals for India on the International Level. However, he has said before that he would want to win the Diamond Trophy to complete the set and spoke about the importance of Diamond League events for him.

He had earlier competed in two Diamond League finals and he finished 7th in 2017 and 4th in 2018. The historic throw in Laussane was Neeraj’s comeback after having missed the Commonwealth Games due to an injury that he had during the World Athletics Championships in Eugene where he threw 88.13m in the final to win a silver medal.
