Former Indian wicket keeper Dinesh Kartik opened up about India's off-spinner issue and named Ravichandran Ashwin's replacement in future.

Dinesh Kartik is one of the best cricketing minds right now. His analytical skills and talent identification are miles above many analysts and experts. He is also settling into his commentary role.

A very interesting and keen topic regarding Indian cricket has been the heir of Ravichandran Ashwin. After Harbhajan Singh, Ashwin took the baton of off-spinner very seamlessly.

But there is a problem in the current crops of players as the Indian cricket board is finding it slightly tougher to find their new off-spinner. A spinner who will take the baton from Ashwin in the coming years.

Who After Ashwin?

Ashwin is still one of the finest bowlers in the world. But he is 37 years old now and he is not getting any younger. We probably have 2-3 years more with him and have to look for alternatives.

Kartik opened up about the issue and named the frontrunner who is most likely to replace Ashwin. “India are definitely looking for a next-gen off-spinner, as in last India ‘A’ series against England Lions, they tried three off-spinners in three matches: Pulkit Narang, Washington Sundar and Saransh Jain.

According to him, Sundar is the front-runner behind Ashwin right now. “He’s done well in whatever limited opportunities he’s got and I feel he will get his due first before going to anybody else.”

Dinesh Kartik Apologizes!

A few days ago, Kartik came under a lot of scrutiny for his India all-time XI as he did not pick MS Dhoni in it. He apologized for the confusion and stated that he forgot to pick a keeper for his team.

“Guys, I made a huge mistake. I realized only when the episode came out – Dhoni is a lock in any format, not only in India. I feel he is one of the greatest cricketers. If I had to redo that team, Thala Dhoni would be at 7. He will be the captain of any Indian team that is there”.
