ECB denied BCCI’s request to tweak England-India Test series dates for IPL

England and Wales Cricket Board has denied accepting any request from the Board of Control for Cricket in India to tweak the schedule of the India-England Test series to organize the remaining season of the Indian Premier League.

According to Indian and English Media reports, BCCI had urged the ECB to advance the five-Test series to create a window for the resumption of IPL 2021.

“We talk to the BCCI regularly about a wide range of issues, especially as we address the challenges of Covid 19 but have had no official request to change dates and are continuing to plan for the five-Test series as scheduled.” addressed by an ECB spokesperson.

The BCCI stands to lose revenue to the tune of Rs. 2,500 crore if this season will not be completed.

The tournament was postponed indefinitely with the breach in the IPL bio-bubble as many players and support staff tested positive for the coronavirus.

A BCCI source said the Board is certainly exploring options, but the ECB has not been approached officially. “The situation is pretty fluid now. Some options are being explored, but no official request has yet been sent. However, as Atherton wrote in his column, some specific inquiries are being made. Who said that inquiries mean official communications”.

Coming on the ECB side, if the board agrees then they will also have to tweak their ambitious and most awaited project ‘The Hundred’ and limited-overs series against Pakistan. The hundred will be played between July 23 and August 22.
