Eng vs. NZ 2023: The England vs. New Zealand T20i series started with a banger as England made light work of The Kiwis. The English dominated the match, but amidst the annihilation, Tim Southee created history.
Tim Southee was appointed as the skipper of The Kiwis and made sure that he would be remembered for more than that. There is a race going on between Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Tim Southee to become the top wicket-taker in T20.
As soon as Southee took the first wicket of Jonny Bairstow, he left Shakib behind and became the top wicket-taker in the T20 international. He has 141 wickets to his name now, one more than the Bangladesh skipper.
History Maker
Southee took the first wicket of England’s inning and reached the top of the pinnacle. It was his only wicket in the match but was enough to make him reach the top. He has the chance to leave Shakib further behind as there are 3 more matches in the series.
Rashid Khan sits at the third position and is racing to the top with 130 wickets to his name. Southee’s fellow teammate Ish Sodhi is also on fourth with 119 wickets. Lasith Malinga still is in the top 5 even so many years after his retirement with 17 wickets.
Yuzvendra Chahal is the only Indian in the top 10 and sits in 10th position with 96 wickets.
