Devon Conway became the 12th batsman from New Zealand to score a century on his debut. New Zealand are batting first against the home side England at ‘The Lords’ and they have totally dominated the play on Day 1.
Devon Conway was the lone hero of the visitors on Day 1, the debutant scored 136 runs with 16 fours. Apart from him, only Henry Nicholls managed to play more than a hundred balls.
Nicholls stood for a partnership of 132 runs with Conway, adding 46 runs in the total score.
On the other hand from the English side another debutant marked glory but the ball. Debutant Ollie Robinson picked up 2 wickets as he dismissed opener Tom Latham and the veteran middle order batsman Ross Taylor.
On Day 2, New Zealand will come back on the field with the hope of getting par the margin of 400 runs, while the English bowler knows that it will be difficult for them once the opposition achieves this feat. So, they will look to bowl them out as soon they can.
