EPL Manchester Uni defeats Tottenham with a starry 2-0 win; Bruno and Fred shine with match-changing goals

EPL: Liverpool’s upward trend continued on Wednesday with a 1-0 victory against West Ham, while Manchester United handed Tottenham a blow to their Premier League championship hopes with a commanding 2-0 win at Old Trafford. As a result of Chelsea’s losing streak ending in a 0-0 tie against Brentford, Newcastle was able to defeat Everton 1-0 and pull within two points of the top four.

Following their most stunning performance under Erik ten Hag, United are currently just one point away from the Champions League spots and have a chance to pass Chelsea when the two teams face off at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

“We had some more really good performances like Liverpool and Arsenal but this was the game from start to the end we were really good,” said Ten Hag. “I told the team it was very enjoyable to watch.”

A Tottenham team that had only been defeated once in their first 10 league games of the season was the target of 28 shots from the Red Devils.

United’s lack of a killer instinct up front has hindered any positive developments since losing their first two games of the season.

When Fred’s deflected effort found the bottom corner two minutes into the second half, they finally received their rewards in front of a joyous packed house. When Bruno Fernandes scored his first club goal since August, United gained an advantage.

With a win, Tottenham might have closed the gap on the league leaders Arsenal to just one point, but Antonio Conte was doubtful about their ability to challenge for the championship after watching them play.
