Neeraj Chopra: The biggest Indian track and field athletes will be competing in the Federation Cup Athletics 2024 in Bhubaneshwar. And Indian Javelin star Neeraj Chopra has urged the fans to come and support them at the Kalinga Stadium for the event.
Indian athletics has been rising rapidly in the past few years. Neeraj himself won gold at the Olympics and now many Indian athletes have secured automatic qualification for the Paris Olympics. It is now our duty to support these players so they can perform at the highest level.
Indian long jump talent Shaili Singh also talked about the importance of having fans at the stadium last year. She stated that she saw a full-packed stadium for football and was hopeful to see the same crowd in athletics as well but was disappointed when very few people came.
Neeraj Chopra Requests Support
The Olympic gold medalists urged the fans to come to the stadium and support them. He stated “I request people of please come and watch and support us. The spectators will boost the morale and performance of every athlete.”
Event organizers are quite hopeful this time to attract a sum of the crowd. They think that Neeraj Chopra’s popularity will result in a sizable audience on the final day.
The organisers are hoping to get a similar reception as during the Asian Athletics Championships in 2017 where the crowd was electric. Even Neeraj admits that the crowd helped him in the Asian Championship in 2017.
Automatic Entry In Finals
Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Jena were granted direct entry into the Federation Cup finals. They had already bettered the minimum qualification mark of 75 meters which allowed them direct entry.
Indian athletics head coach Radhakrishnan Nair said “All those who have crossed 75m will not compete in the qualifying round on Tuesday. There are nine of them from among those who had made entries, including Neeraj and Jena. They will directly compete in the final on Wednesday.”
