FIFA: Argentina’s World Cup victory against France last month resulted in “offensive behaviour,” according to a FIFA announcement on Friday that disciplinary action had been taken against the country. After a thrilling 3-3 draw, the South Americans defeated the French champions on penalties in Qatar.
After the game, goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez made a vulgar gesture with the championship trophy before being caught on camera in the locker room making fun of French sensation Kylian Mbappe. Argentina, according to FIFA, may very well have violated rules pertaining to “offensive behaviour and violations of the principles of fair play” and “misconduct of players and officials”.
Argentina went too far in celebrations: FIFA
After putting up a valiant fight against the defending champions France, the Lionel Messi-led Argentine team triumphed. The Argentine team went crazy in celebration because the moment was extraordinary as well as emotional. FIFA, however, claims that the celebrations went too far.
The Argentine players reportedly stepped inside the designated area for interviews while cheering. As a result, the partition walls were destroyed, and despite their pledges, some people chose not to talk with the foreign media. The goalie Emiliano Martinez’s celebration, though, may have been the main attraction. The Golden Glove medal that the Aston Villa goalkeeper got at the post-game ceremony was touted to be used as vulgar gestures.

Serbia fined after fans uttered impolite words
The governing body of world football is also looking into allegations of media and marketing violations by the Argentinean FA. Croatia is being looked at for possible breaches of the laws governing “discrimination” and “order and security at matches.” Following their third-place play-off triumph over Morocco, players looked to be singing a song with Nazi overtones.
Defender Dejan Lovren rcently spoke to media and defended his and his team stand by saying it was “a patriotic song which relates to my country, which means that I love my country”. After Serbian fans uttered impolite chants in the match against archrivals Switzerland, the Serbian Football Association was fined $54,000 and will have a portion of the stadium closed during its upcoming FIFA encounter.
