We have got a new champion. After a long 103-minute excruciating final, we finally got a new champion. Spain hold off the English threat as they clinched the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time.
It was a tough match with both teams struggling and flourishing for the entirety of the match. There was no way to determine the winner till the last second. A tussle till the end which saw us getting 13 minutes of extra time.

Spain was constantly knocking on the goal but was not able to find the back of the net. After getting denied by Mary Earps in the 17th minute, Olga Cramona finally broke the deadline in the 29th minute to give Spain the lead.
A brilliant sublime finish by Olga gave no chance to the best keeper in the world. Earps tried to stop it, but the finish was just too good. And after that, Spain only had one motive and that was to survive.

Even though Spain was on the back foot, they were the team that got the second biggest chance of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Final. After a very long VAR check, Spain was awarded a penalty in the 66th minute after Keira Walsh handball inside the penalty corner.
It was the perfect moment for Spain to close the tie, but Earps had different plans. She denied Jennifer Hermoso’s penalty to keep England in the tie. But the Lions failed to equalize as Spain defended heroically to clinch the finals.
