FIFA World Cup 2022: After their team defeated the defending champions France in the FIFA World Cup final on Sunday, Argentina’s supporters celebrated by hoisting posters of their idol Lionel Messi and waving the country’s flag. This was also the last FIFA World Cup for the legend, Lionel Messi, who is already 35 years old, but is still scoring goals.
Thousands of fan flock the streets
As soon as La Albiceleste, Argentina’s national football team, won the World Cup in a 4-2 penalty shootout, throngs of people erupted in Buenos Aires. Argentinean blue and white-clad supporters flocked around the Obelisk in the heart of Buenos Aires, where they could be seen chanting, dancing, and waving the country’s flag.
For many Argentine football fans, Obelisk has served as an unofficial gathering place. The recent 3-0 triumph by their national team over Croatia to go to the World Cup final had also brought out a huge crowd of supporters.

Millions of supporters in the South American nation, which has been facing sky-high inflation in a fractured political environment, may now celebrate the victory.

Messi finally wins the long-desired World Cup
Lionel Messi, the captain of Argentina, was named the tournament’s best player and received the Golden Ball award. He also made history by becoming the first player to score goals during the group stage, Round of 16, Quarterfinals, and Final of a World Cup.
For Messi, who is competing in his final World Cup, the victory has also provided some much-needed solace. Since making his debut in 2006, Messi has pursued five World Cups before winning it this year.
