FIFA World Cup 2022: Following their historic victory against Germany in a FIFA World Cup 2022 match on Wednesday, the Japanese fans won hearts by picking up trash at the Khalifa Stadium. However, it wasn’t just the spectators who upheld their reputation as pleasant people; shortly after their thrilling triumph against the defending world champions, the Japanese players also cleaned up their locker area.
Japanese team cleaned up their locker room
The Japanese athletes and members of their support staff made a sweet gesture by leaving the Khalifa Stadium after keeping their locker room clean. As the FIFA, the world football’s governing body, posted a message of appreciation, it was seen that the shirt hangers were repositioned and the towels in the locker room were folded.
After the game, FIFA posted a picture of the Japan locker room taken at Khalifa Stadium and captioned, “Domo Arigato (Thank You So Much).”
FIFA also commended the Japanese supporters’ courtesy of leaving Khalifa Stadium after picking up garbage from the seating areas. Notably, before Japan’s opening match against Germany at the FIFA World Cup 2022, hundreds of bags were donated by the Japanese supporters.
Japanese fans cleaned up the stadium
Taking to twitter, FIFA wrote, “”After an historic victory against Germany at the #FIFAWorldCup on Match Day 4, Japan fans cleaned up their rubbish in the stadium, whilst the @jfa_samuraiblue left their changing room at Khalifa International Stadium like this. Spotless.”
Japanese fans did same in 2018 WC too
It wasn’t the first time Japanese fans have won people’s hearts in this way. Japanese fans at the stadium lingered and gathered garbage from their stands even after the WC opener between hosts Qatar and Ecuador.
Additionally, after their matches in Russia at the 2018 World Cup, Japanese fans cleaned the stands. As they advanced to the knockout rounds in 2018, Japan had a wonderful campaign.
With Spain and Japan in the Group of Death, the victory on Wednesday is a huge boost for Japan.
