FIFA World Cup 2022: Argentina defeated the Netherlands on penalties to defeat them in the second quarterfinal game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which is being played in Qatar. It had been a thrilling contest between the two sides.
Up until the game’s scheduled start time, Argentina and the Netherlands were locked in a 2-2 draw. Neither club could score a goal even in extra time. After that, a penalty shootout was used to determine the winner. In this penalty shootout, Lionel Messi’s Argentina defeated the Netherlands 4-3.

The Argentine team scored its first goal in this quarterfinal game in the 35th minute. Nehuel Morina scored a fantastic goal for the club, giving them a 1-0 lead, off a ball from Messi. Following this, Messi’s magic was witnessed by the crowd in the 73rd minute of the game when he converted a penalty and gave his team a 2-0 lead.
Everyone believed that Argentina would easily win this game after taking a 2-0 lead, but Beghorst, who entered as a replacement, reversed the tide of the game. In actuality, he gave the Netherlands their first goal in the 83rd minute. The referee then awarded 10 minutes of added time, during which the player shocked everyone by scoring a goal in the final minute to tie the game at 2-2. Following this, both teams were given an additional 30 minutes, but throughout this interval, no goals were scored by either team.
Argentina proceeds after the penalty shootout
The game was so thrilling that the outcome was determined by the penalty shootout. Amy Martinez, the goalie for Argentina, played outstandingly during the game and blocked shots from Steven Berghouse and the captain of the Netherlands, Virgil Van Dyck. Tiune Koopmeeners, Bout Beghorst, and Luuk de Jong scored the goals for the Netherlands. On the other hand, Argentina’s Lionel Messi, Leonardo Paredez, Gonzalo Montial, and Lautaro Martinez all scored goals.
