FIFA World Cup 2026: On May 17 evening , FIFA unveiled the official logo for the eagerly awaited football event at the prestigious Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, officially kicking off the road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
FIFA World Cup Trophy Takes Center Stage in Official Emblem
The emblem prominently displays an accurate representation of the FIFA World Cup trophy in the forefront and was unveiled by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and renowned two-time World Cup champion Ronaldo Nazário. The tournament’s year is shown in large type in the background, which complements this eye-catching image. This is significant since it is the first time the FIFA World Cup Trophy has been used in the official emblem.
2026 Tournament Expands to 48 Teams and Tri-Nation Hosting
The 2018 World Cup will feature an expansion from 32 teams to 48 teams in a ground-breaking move, and it will be jointly hosted by three countries, marking another historic first. Infantino revealed that teams competing in the expanded tournament would be divided up into regional clusters in the early rounds while revealing the official logo and branding for the 2026 World Cup. Given the size of the 2026 finals, this choice has been taken to enable easier travel arrangements for the participating teams. “There will be some travel required (in 2026), but we will plan that and make sure that it will be the best circumstances for the teams.”
