It is a sad day in the cricket fraternity as former England skipper and coach Graham Thorpe passed away at the age of 55. He was one of the most stylish and finest batsmen that the cricket has graced us with.
Thorpe was one of the biggest servants of English cricket and served his nation with everything he could. With a brilliant first-class and international record, he is one of the best English batters of all time.
The whole cricket fraternity is saddened by this demise. After all, he is one of the biggest lovers of cricket. He was sick for a long time and was fighting for his health. We pray for his family in this hard time.
Graham Thorpe Career!
Thorpe had an astounding first-class career, scoring 21,937 runs for Surrey with 49 centuries. He scored these many runs with an average of 45.04 and was called up for the England squad in 1993.
Graham is one of the few players to play 100 test matches for England where he scored 6744 runs including Test hundreds. He made his mark on the world when he scored a sensational century on his Ashes debut.
He also served as England’s coach for almost a decade and helped in grooming various players like Joe Root, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, and many more.
Cricket World Saddened!
This news has saddened the whole cricket fraternity and players like Anil Kumble and Ben Stokes paid their respects. Thorpe played against Kumble many times and these two had a very amazing rivalry throughout their careers.
