Gautam Gambhir became the global mentor of the Super Giants franchise. Gambhir, who was the team’s mentor to the Lucknow Super Giants to reach the playoffs in their first season of the IPL this year, will also mentor the Durban Super Giants franchise in the first season of the SA20 league in South Africa starting January 10 next year.

Elaborating on Gambhir’s rise as the Global Mentor for the Lucknow and Durban franchises in the IPL and SA20 League, an official statement from the RPSG Group said that with him being one of the fastest cricketing minds in the world, he has been Looks like he can not only add the team, but also move forward at the global level. Gambhir, a former left-handed batsman, was a member of India’s T20 World Cup winning team in 2007 and ODI World Cup winning team in 2011. He played important innings in the finals of both the tournaments. As a captain, he led Kolkata Knight Riders to IPL victories in 2012 and 2014. He said, “It will be a proud moment to see the Super Giants family make a global mark. I thank the Super Giants family for showing their faith in me.”

Gambhir played 58 Tests and scored 4154 runs, 5238 runs in 147 ODIs and 932 runs for India in 37 T20Is. He represented Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) and Kolkata Knight Riders in 154 matches since the inception of the IPL from 2008 to 2018, scoring 4217 runs at an average of 31.01 including 36 half-centuries. He played for Delhi in IPL from 2008-10 and then played for Kolkata from 2011-17.
