BCCI: Amidst the ongoing IPL 2023, the schedule for the domestic season has been announced by the board. The 2023-24 domestic cricket season in India will begin with the Duleep Trophy tournament on June 28, followed by the Deodhar Trophy (List A) from July 24 to August 3. The flagship Ranji Trophy is set to commence on January 5 of next year. In addition to these, the season will also feature several other significant tournaments, including the Irani Cup from October 1-5, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy men’s T20 national championships from October 16-November 6, and the Vijay Hazare Trophy from November 23-December 15.
BCCI Announces New Rules
The Ranji Trophy, the final tournament of the men’s senior calendar, is scheduled to take place from January 5 to March 14, with the elite group league matches spanning from January 5 to February 19 and the knock-out round from February 23 to March 14. This year, the tournament is set to last for 70 days. The plate group league matches, on the other hand, will be played from January 5 to February 5, followed by the knock-out round from February 9-22.
Promotion and relegation rules have been set for the upcoming domestic cricket season, with six teams competing in the plate group and eight teams in each of the four elite groups. The top two from each elite group will advance to the quarterfinals, while the top four from the plate group will compete in the semifinals. The two finalists from the plate group will earn promotion to the elite group for the next season, while the bottom two teams from all elite groups will be relegated to the plate group based on their points, bonus points, wins, and quotient.

The senior women’s cricket season in India will begin with the T20 championships scheduled to take place from October 19 to November 9. This will be followed by the Inter-Zonal T20 Trophy, which is scheduled to take place from November 24 to December 4. The senior women’s one-day trophy will be played between January 4-26, 2024.

For the senior women’s T20 Trophy and one-day trophy, five groups will be formed – two with eight teams and three with seven teams. The top two teams from each of the five groups will qualify for the knockout stage.
