GG vs RCB WPL 2023: On Wednesday at the Brabourne Stadium, in a match between Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023, the opener for Gujarat Giants, Sophia Dunkley, made a smashing record as she hit the fastest fifty. The decision to bat first was made by Gujarat Giants, and Dunkley accomplished the feat in just 18 deliveries. After Sabbhineni Meghana, the other opener, faced a maiden and got out for 8 runs in the third over, Dunkley picked up the pace.
Sophia Dunkley’s havoc at Brabourne
In the fourth over, the 24-year-old batter hit two fours and a six off Renuka Thakur, followed by five consecutive boundaries (four fours and a six) in the fifth over, scoring 22 runs and reaching her half-century. Dunkley’s fifty, achieved in just 28 deliveries, is among the top four fastest in all recorded women’s T20 competitions worldwide. She continued to play well, hitting a total of 65 runs, but eventually got out.
During her innings, she smashed eleven boundaries and three sixes. The crowd was on their feet once Dunkley started wreaking havoc in the stadium. It’s worth noting that the first over of the innings was a maiden.
