Hardik Pandya ‘s rather philosophical take on India’s loss in the T20I series decider against the West Indies has been met with disapproval from fans. They have expressed strong criticism towards the stand-in captain for his statement that “losing is good at times.”
Hardik Pandya Angers ICT Fans
The comments came to attention after India’s unconvincing performance in Florida, resulting in a painstaking eight-wicket loss. This defeat marked the team’s first bilateral series loss to the West Indies in six years. While the rational portion of the fervent Indian fan base acknowledges that the team is currently in a phase of transition and had several key players rested for the tour, it was Hardik Pandya’s apparent absence of visible disappointment and his philosophical perspective on the defeat that sparked the angry reactions. Fans perceived the Indian captain as being insensitive, as he didn’t show any concern for their emotional attachment to the game and the Indian team.
Addressing the post-match presentation ceremony after the 3-2 series loss to the West Indies, Hardik Pandya chose to adopt a broader perspective rather than succumbing to bitter disappointment over the unfavorable outcome. He expressed his support for the young players on the team, envisioning them as the cornerstone of a triumphant squad in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Hardik also acknowledged that India’s momentum was compromised by his lackluster performance, particularly his vigil of 14 runs off 18 balls in the first half of the match. He emphasized that both he and his team would improve with experience. He went on to say, “We lost the momentum when I came in and couldn’t capitalize on the situation. I believe we gonna challenge ourselves,” he said. “We try to get better. In hindsight, it is fine. We don’t need to explain much. I know how the boys are within the group. We have enough time to figure out. Losing is good at times.”
