Got responsibility, utilised it well during IPL: Avesh Khan after getting picked for WTC standup

Indian pace bowler Avesh Khan has been included in India’s stand-by for the mega Test series in England and also the World Test Championship final.

“I played all the matches [for Delhi Capitals] this time, so I was definitely feeling very confident. I bowled very well. The team also won matches. We were at the top of the table so I was feeling very confident,” Khan, who picked 14 wickets in eight matches, told IANS.

Avesh was the second-highest wicket-taker after Harshal Patel in the race for Orange Cap. The IPL 2021 however, was postponed at the halfway mark with players testing positive for COVID-19 in bio-bubble.

“I got responsibility and I utilised it very well. I bowled at every stage – with the new ball, middle-overs, and death overs. The team’s coaches and the captain gave me a lot of confidence so whatever situation I got I did really well every time,” said Avesh.

The 24-years-right-arm pacer played all eight games for Delhi Capitals this season, while in the lat four seasons he only played nine games. The young talent got rewarded for his brilliance onfield.
