GT vs DC IPL 2023: In the 44th match of IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals has defeated Gujarat Titans by a margin of five runs at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. David Warner won the toss and chose to bat first, however, they managed to score just 130 runs, riding on a valiant 51-run knock of Aman Khan. In response, Gujarat Titans also had a similar start as they lost top-order cheaply but managed to take down the game to the last over. However, with Ishant Sharma’s heroic over, they were restricted to a total of 125/6 in 20 overs. This is just the third victory for DC in 9 matches.
Hardik and Tewatia take team to victory
Coming to chase a low total of 131 runs, Gujarat Titans did not have an ideal start in the match as they lost opener Wriddhiman Saha for a 6-ball-duck. Shubman Gill couldn’t do much and scored just 6 runs while David Miller was also dismissed on a three-ball duck. Vijay Shankar scored 6 off 9. Skipper Hardik Pandya, however, took charge and scored a crucial 42 off 28, hitting 3 boundaries and two maximums.
At one moment, GT’s score stood at 32/4 in 6.4 overs. However, Skipper Hardik Pandya stabilised the inning and went on to score a valiant 52* off 53, hitting seven boundaries. He was well accompanied by Abhinav Manohar who scored 26 off 33. Rahul Tewatia once again played a crucial knock of 20 in 7 balls, hitting three sixes. At one moment 33 runs were required in 2 overs, but he slammed three back-to-back sixes in the last three balls of that over and took the task to 12 runs in 6 balls. However, he was out in the last over and Rashid Khan came to the crease when 9 were required off 3. Thus, they failed to win the match. Khaleel Ahmed & Ishant picked a couple of wickets while Anrich and Kuldeep picked a wicket each.
DC’s lower order shines yet again
Earlier, Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bat first. However, they had the worst-possible start losing opener Philip Salt for a golden duck on the first ball itself. Skipper David Warner was runout on just 2 runs. Rossouw scored 8 while Manish Pandey was dismissed with a score of just one run. Priyam Garg was the last one to go in powerplay after scoring 10 runs. In the powerplay, they managed to score just 28 runs while losing five wickets. Shami bowled a fantastic spell and took four wickets out of these.
However, the lower order showed resistance and took the team to a respectable and fighting total. Aman Khan rose up on the occasion and scored crucial 51 runs for the team in 44 balls, hitting three boundaries and as many sixes. Axar Patel scored 27 while Ripal Patel scored 23 runs. Finally, the team reached a total of 130/8 in 20 overs. Shami picked a four-wicket haul while giving away just 11 runs. Mohit Sharma grabbed a couple of wickets while Rashid also picked a wicket.
