Hardik Pandya: On October 23, in front of a full MCG, India narrowly defeated Pakistan in a match that was a nail-biter. Hardik Pandya ‘s all-around efforts were essential for India’s exciting triumph, even if former Indian captain Virat Kohli stole the show with one of the finest T20I innings ever. When discussing his late father in a post-game interview, the all-rounder was visibly shaken and in tears.
After dismissing Babar Azam and Mohamad Rizwan, two of Pakistan’s top batsmen, in his first two overs, young left-arm bowler Arshdeep Singh gave India the lead. But the Men in Green struck back with a counterattacking partnership, in large part because of Iftikhar Ahmed’s fifty-six. But as Hardik quickly claimed three wickets in the middle overs, finishing with 3/30 in his four overs, India seized control of the match.
After India was in trouble at 31/4, Pandya came to Rohit Sharma’s side’s aid. Together, he and Virat Kohli put up 113 runs, which completely changed the course of the match and put India in position to win. Even though India still needed 16 runs when Kohli was removed in the last over, he had secured India’s triumph. During the celebrations following the game, Pandya was observed speaking about his father while crying. Watch Video:
Notably, Pandya had modest beginnings in his early years before rising to popularity. Pandya’s father, who is from a small village in Surat, saw Pandya’s aptitude at an early age and made the decision to go to Vadodra, closing down his little business in Surat. Under the close supervision of veteran Indian cricketer Kiran More, Hardik and his older brother Krunal—both of whom have represented their country—grew tremendously.
