Harmanpreet Kaur: Indian women’s team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur grabbed the headline on Saturday for all the wrong reasons. Two days ago the Indin skipper was in the news for her amazing snarky humor.
But today, in a very rare sight we saw Harmanpreet losing her cool which is rare for her. The incident took place in the third and final ODI match between India and Bangladesh when Harmanpreet Kaur was given out.
The incident has left everyone shocked and some Indian fans are comparing it with Shakib Al Hasan’s temper. Because as we all know how short-tempered Hasan is when it comes to cricket.
Harmanpreet Kaur Loses Her Cool
The incident took place in the 34th over when Harmanpreet was facing Nahida Akter. Kaur had played 20 deliveries and was on 14 runs and was sailing smoothly. She tried to sweep a full-length delivery by Nahida and missed completely.
The ball stuck her pads and went to the slips. As Bangladesh players appealed, the umpire gave it an out which left the Indian skipper in a frenzy. And what everyone saw was a moment of pure anger that even Harmanpreet might regret later in her career.
The skipper hit the stumps with her bat and started arguing with the umpire. She signaled umpire that her bat was involved and it was not out. In the end, she even gave a sarcastic thumbs-up to the crowd.
Series Tied
After the scenes, India failed to chase down the target of 226 set by the Bangladesh team. Even Smriti Mandhana getting back in her form and Harleen Deol scoring a brilliant 77 was not enough as the match ended in a tie.
The super over was about to be bowled but as the match went beyond the scheduled closing time, it ended in a tie. The series ended 1-1 and though times continue for team India.
