Harmanpreet Singh is going to lead his side into a new era as the Blues will look to defend their ACT title without some key players.

After securing the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, the Indian team is ready to embark on a new journey. Harmanpreet Singh will lead his side to the Asian Champions Trophy next month.

The Indian team is in a state of euphoria and is going to enter into a new era. An era without PR Sreejesh who has been the backbone of this team for more than a decade. It will be weird to not see him securing the nets.

The ACT will also serve as the first tournament in the new Olympic Cycle. India won the previous edition in Chennai and will begin their title defense against China. But they will be without a few key players in the squad,

Harmanpreet Singh Side!

This tournament will be India’s first outing post-Sreejesh and will be led by Harmanpreet Singh. Suraj Karkera, Kishan Pathak, and HS Mohit will form the goalkeepers’ line-up for the Blues.

According to various sources, key players like Mandeep Singh and Lalit Upadhyay have requested rest. Meanwhile, Hardik Singh will miss the ACT because of a shoulder niggle.

21 players, who were not picked for Paris Olympics 2024 have already joined the camp at the SAI. Coach Craig Fulton and the Summer Games participant will join the camp from August 24.

No Home Advantage!

In the last Olympic cycle, India hosted major tournaments like ACT and the 2023 World Cup. This time around, the Blues will play fewer home tournaments China, Belgium, and the Netherlands are going to host these tournaments.

India will begin their ACT campaign on September 8th against China and will face arch-rivals Pakistan on 14th September. Harmanpreet and Co. would like to defend their title successfully and begin this new campaign on a high.
