No Indian fan can forget the 2019 ODI World Cup Semi-Final. That run out of MS Dhoni is still fresh in everyone’s mind and no matter what anyone says, a little part of them died that day.
India was all set for glory after a disastrous start and was in a decent position when everything came crashing down. Even Umpire Richard Kettleborough was not able to believe what had happened and his reaction went viral that day.
It was surely a painful loss but to add to the misery, Dhoni has not played a single match for the Blues after that. In a public event, the former Indian skipper was asked about that loss and his answer might make you teary once again.
‘It Was A Heartbreak’
In a public event, two fans asked ‘Captain Cool’ about the ODI World Cup 2019 loss. Dhoni stated that this loss was hard as he knew it was his last World Cup and he wanted to win.
He stated “It was a difficult one because I knew that this would be my last World Cup, so it would have been good to be on the winning side. It was a heartbreak moment, so we accepted the result and we tried to move on. It takes time and one gets some time after the World Cup. I hadn’t played any international cricket after that so I got a lot of time.”
He further stated “So, yes, it was a heartbreak but at the same time you have to get out of it. So you just accept that you tried your best, but you were not able to win it,” he added.
MS Dhoni Last IPL?
For the last few days, several reports have come out stating that the former CSK skipper might not play in IPL 2025. His playing depends on the number of retentions allowed by BCCI.
If the retentions are four or less, Dhoni will not be part of IPL and will retire silently. So, in a week it will be clear whether we will see Thala in Yellow again or that we should be ready for another Instagram post.
