Holi 2023: On the eve of the Festival of Colours, India’s cricket players celebrated Holi on their team bus in Ahmedabad. Senior players such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, as well as Shubman Gill, joined in on the colourful celebration. The team was returning to their hotel from a training session at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Shubman Gill posted a video on social media, showing Team India’s Holi celebration on the team bus. In the video, Virat Kohli can be seen holding his cricket kit in one hand, is fully covered in colours and enthusiastically displaying his singing talent, adding to the festive mood. India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, also joins in on the fun, getting thrilled when he sees Gill filming and throwing colours at Kohli and Gill from behind.
On the eve of the Festival of Colours, Holi, celebrations have already commenced throughout the country, with the actual day being celebrated on Wednesday, March 8. Even the overseas and Indian players who are part of the Women’s Premier League in Mumbai joined in on the festivities.
Rohit Sharma also shared photos of the team’s Holi celebration on their bus, featuring players such as Suryakumar Yadav, Cheteshwar Pujara, Axar Patel, and Mohammed Siraj, who were all drenched in Holi colours.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also shared photographs of Holi celebrations in the dressing room of the Narendra Modi Stadium. Despite the festivities, several members of the Indian men’s cricket team will remain focused to cricket as they have their final training session at the stadium before the fourth and final Test against Australia.

India is currently leading 2-1 in the four-Test series; however, Australia, led by stand-in captain Steve Smith, made a comeback after trailing 0-2 and won the third Test in Indore by 9 wickets. If India wins the final Test, they will secure a spot in the World Test Championship final in London in June. Australia has already qualified following their victory in the third Test at Indore.
