ODI World Cup 2023: Australian team is in massive trouble right now as they can’t catch a break from all the injuries. First, was Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins who were reported to be suffering from an injury.

Steve Smith was the next player that was revealed to be injured. While the severity of both of these injuries is not revealed yet, their ODI World Cup 2023 participation is in doubt at the moment.

And now, the Aussies suffered another setback as their fearsome hitter Glenn Maxwell is also reported injured and will sit out of the South Africa tour. Maxwell was already missing the ODI series against South Africa but is now out of the T20 series as well.

Doubtful For ODI World Cup 2023

Just like the previous two, the severity of the injury is not reported at the moment. The only confirmation Cricket Australia has given is that he will be out of the South Africa tour. Maxwell was missing the ODI series because of the birth of his first child.

Australian selector Tony Dodemaide has also stated that the right-handed batsman will be monitored after Africa’s tour. Which means that he is also doubtful for the upcoming India series.

“Following scans, and on medical advice, it was determined to take a conservative approach. As a result, Maxwell has been ruled out of the three-match T20 series.” The official announcement read.

Matthew Wade As Replacement

Australia has announced Matthew Wade as the replacement for Maxwell in the South Africa tour. Wade was an astronomical part of the Aussie side that life the T20 World Cup in 2021. He is also coming out of a brilliant season of ‘The Hundred.’ The Australian board is also happy with Wade and is hopeful.
