Asia Cup 2023: The continental tournament has not yet started and Bangladesh is already in huge trouble. The Tigers faced a huge setback as their prominent batsman Litton Das has been ruled out of the tournament.
Asia Cup 2023 is set to start on August 30 with Pakistan and Nepal facing each other. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will face each other after that in the second match of the continental tournament.
Bangladesh Cricket Board announced the news of the exclusion of Das earlier on Wednesday as the right-handed batsman was suffering from viral fever. The selection committee has announced Anamul Haque as his replacement.
Huge Blow For Bangladesh
Litton Das has been a prominent figure in the Bangladesh team for a while now. He is a very fine dependable batsman that has delivered for his team almost every time. Him not being in the team is a huge blow.
Anamul Haque is also a very talented batsman who has played 44 times for the national team. The Chairman of the National Selection Panel, Minhajul Abedin described Anamul as the like-for-like replacement of Litton.
Anamul has scored 1254 runs for Bangladesh including three centuries and his last appearance was in December against India. He will arrive in Sri Lanka soon to join the squad.
Injured XI Match In Asia Cup 2023
It is not just Bangladesh who is suffering as Sri Lanka is also on the same boat. Four of their major players have been ruled out of the Continental Cup because of injuries. Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Madushanka, and Lahiru Kumara all have been ruled out.
It has hurt the chances of Sri Lanka massively as Hasaranga and Chameera were two of their very best players.
