Umesh Yadav was the star for Kolkata Knight Riders with his two top wickets in the first game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 vs Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After an august performance, Yadav stated that he has the capability to take wickets in the powerplay.
“It’s a fresh wicket and the ball is gripping and there is bounce and swing as well, there is help for pace and spin as well. Last year I just played only 2 games and always feels nice to play and do well for the team. Got wickets in the powerplay, so I am very happy. If you look at my IPL record, I have the capability to take wickets in the powerplay and I also swing the new ball as well and as a fast bowler, I would love to lead the team and pick as many wickets in the powerplay. The ball is gripping and they also have good spinners in Jadeja and Santner, so let’s see and hope for the best (during the chase), said Yadav after first innings.
After being asked to bat first, CSK had a poor start as they were at 61/5 in the 11th over of the match after some brilliant bowling show by Umesh Yadav who bowled his four overs by just just 20 runs.
Varun Chakaravarthy and Andre Russell picked one each.
KKR was brilliant in the first 15 overs but later it was all about MS Dhoni’s impressive knock that helped CSK to reach 131 in 20 overs.
MS Dhoni has headlined CSK batting with his unbeaten 50 and added 70 runs with the new skipper Ravindra Jadeja vs Kolkata Knight Riders.
