Neeraj Chopra opened up about his comeback in the Lausanne Diamond League and how he was able to break free of the mental barrier.

Neeraj Chopra had a weird outing at the Lausanne Diamond League. In the first four throws, he was struggling to touch even the 85-meter mark. But somehow recorded his season’s best in the final throw to secure a medal.

Since the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj has taken part in 20 competitions, and not once he has finished outside of the Top 2. That is some serious consistency but at one point it looked like it would be a rare medalless night for the Golden Boy.

After the first four throws, Neeraj was in 4th position and was on the verge of getting out of the medal race. Only the top 3 after the fifth throw are allowed to take part in the sixth and final throw.

‘I Liked My Comeback’

Neeraj opened up about his comeback at the Diamond League and stated that he liked it. The Paris Olympics silver medallist also brushed up on his injury and stated that it is not affecting him too much.

He stated, “Luckily after Paris, it was not too much. So, I did some treatment with my physio. He did well and I feel good. I did some very easy throwing sessions after Paris. And it was a strange competition today. In the beginning, I did not feel that I could throw that far but in the end, it was really good.

Peters threw 90m, my body didn’t feel good but the fighting spirit was nice today. I liked my comeback. In the last throw I didn’t think too much, just gave my best,”
