Indian wicketkeeper KL Rahul was part of the biggest controversy of 2019 alongside his teammate Hardik Pandya. One simple mistake by them turned their lives into nightmares and they are still affected by it.
Rahul and Pandya went to an episode of talk show ‘Koffee With Karan’ in 2019. One particular comment made by them resulted in them getting trolled and massive backlash from every part of the country.
BCCI even decided to suspend them. Things were so bad that both these players were called back midway during a tour to Australia. Finally, Rahul decided to open up about the incident.
In the latest episode of Nikhil Kamath’s podcast, the wicketkeeper stated how that controversy scarred him and affected his mental health. He further stated that the incident changed him completely as a person.
‘I Was Scarred’
KL looked back to the time when he was constantly getting booed. “I used to be good with trolling and used to think I didn’t care. I was much younger back then. A couple of years back, I was exposed to a lot of trolling. If I sat I got trolled, If I stood I got trolled.”
He further added that he was building confidence in himself while playing for India and that interview changed him. “Now I don’t(feel confident) because that interview scarred me massively.
Getting suspended from the team. I have never been suspended in school, or punished in school and don’t know how to handle it. I did mischief in schools but nothing to get me expelled from school or my parents have come.”
KL Rahul Retirement
Earlier there were rumours that KL had decided to hang up his boots. But the wicketkeeper replied in style when he posted a video of him getting ready for the upcoming test season.
He is going to play in the Duleep Trophy as part of Team A and will be a massive part of the Indian test in the WTC cycle.
