Shubman Gill: There is no bigger young star in the world of cricket today than Shubman Gill. The Prince of India has been a phenomenon for the last 2 years. He has been shattering record after record.
But IPL 2024 has not been so good for the Prince of Ahmedabad so far. The batsman has been in decent form but has not looked his natural self. In simple words, he has been inconsistent so far in a season where the batsmen are ruling.
A few months back, Gill would have been an automatic choice for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 squad. But with the rise of Yashaswi Jaiswal and selectors getting impressed by Abhishek Sharma, it might not be the case.
In an interview with Vikrant Gupta, Gill opened up about the important upcoming week for both the Gujarat Titans and the Indian cricket team.
“I Will Cheer If Not Selected” Shubman Gill
In the interview, Vikrant Gupta asked Gill what he do if he did not get selected even after scoring 900 runs last season. Gill stated that it would be a dream to represent his country in the World Cup. But also opened up on what he would do if not selected.
“Obviously as a player, I want to be there and play the World Cup. And get that opportunity to represent my country at the highest level. I scored 900 runs last season, if I have to be picked I will be. If not, I will cheer those who are selected.”
All Focus On IPL 2024 Right Now
Vikrant wanted to ask more questions about Gill’s World Cup selection, but the Gujarat skipper stated that it would not be fair. He stated that he has a responsibility to lead a team right now and wants to focus on that only.
The upcoming week is very important for Gujarat Titans as they have to win at least 4 out of their next 5 matches to do a turnaround in IPL 2024. Gill has so far scored 304 runs in 9 innings with an average of 38 and a Strike Rate of 146.
