Harmanpreet Kaur

ICC has fined Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur over her behaviour against Bangladesh which can also result in a ban. Read Here.

Harmanpreet Kaur: Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is in big trouble and can face heavy repercussions over her behavior against Bangladesh. The International Cricket Council has already fined the captain but it looks like that is not the only worrisome thing.

In the final ODI match against Bangladesh, the Mumbai Indians skipper was livid over some umpiring decisions. She hit the stumps with the bat when the umpire gave her out after an LBW appeal. She stated that the ball hit the bat first.

That was not all as she even criticized umpiring in the post-match ceremony. And even during the photo ceremony, she taunted the Bangladesh players to bring the umpires. Implying that the umpires were also part of the Bangladesh squad.

Huge Fine

The troubles have started for Harmanpreet as ICC has fined her heavily for her misconduct. She will be fined separately for her both on-field and off-field misconduct and the fine imposed on her is really massive.

Kaur will be fined 50% of her match fees for all the on-field misconduct. While she will be fined 25% of her match fee for her misconduct with Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana. Which makes her fine a total of 75% of her match fees.

Huge Ban Ahead For Harmanpreet Kaur?

Not only that but the Indian skipper is also set to receive three demerit points for her behavior. And that is even more dangerous than the fine she has received. As per ICC rules, if a player is given 3-4 demerit points within 24 months, he/she will be banned for either one test match or two limited-over matches.

So, if the Indian skipper receives one more demerit point before the end of 2024, she will be handed a ban from International cricket. The BCCI will talk to the skipper regarding her behavior and it remains to be seen if they will take any disciplinary action or not.
