ICC: The T20I Team of the Year for men’s and women’s cricket was revealed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday. For each team, 11 players were picked who won fans over in 2022 with their batting, bowling, and all-around performances. The Men’s Team of the Year includes three Indian players, including former captain Virat Kohli, while the Women’s Team of the Year includes Smriti Mandhana and three more cricketers from India.
Who are included in the ICC team?
Three members of India make up the ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year, along with two members each of England and Pakistan and one member each of New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, and Ireland. Jos Buttler has been selected as the team’s captain. He captained England to a sweep of titles at the T20 World Cup in Australia last November.
T20I was the format in which Kohli least anticipated making a century, but a remarkable 122* against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup in September was not only his first century in the format but also ended his three-year absence from a century against other nations.

After five games, Kohli eventually concluded the competition as the second-highest run-scorer with 276 runs, and he took that momentum into the World Cup, where he finished as the top run scorer with 296 runs, including four fifty-plus scores. The number of runs included one of the best T20I innings ever played, an unbroken 82 against Pakistan.
The two more players are all-arounder Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar had a phenomenal year in 2022, finishing the year as the player with the most runs in T20I with 1164 runs, two hundreds, and nine half-centuries while striking at an astounding 187.43. During the year, he also became the best batter in T20I. In addition to scoring 607 runs and taking 20 wickets, Hardik, an all-rounder who rejoined the Indian T20I team in June, finished off a fantastic 2022.
