ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Virat Kohli is going to play against South Africa on his birthday. The fans are expecting to see their King score his 50th ODI century of at least equal the record of Sachin Tendulkar on that day.
After all, if he scores a century it will be the biggest celebration in India on that day. India is set to face South Africa on November 5 in Eden Gardens. Coincidentally, Kohli will also celebrate his 35th birthday on that day.
While he can give a gift to the entire India and another reason to celebrate a century, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has another plan for him. According to several reports, it looks like there will be little celebration for the king of India before the match.
Celebration For The King
According to various sources, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has arranged a special cake for the former Indian skipper. Everything indicates that Kohli will cut the cakes before the commencement of the match.
It is not the first time that Virat Kohli will cut a cake on the ground. In the 2022 T20 World Cup, the ‘Chase Master’ celebrated his birthday with journalists at Melbourne Cricket Ground after the net session of the team.
50th Century At ICC ODI World Cup 2023
While everyone is hopeful that Kohli will score his 50th ton against South Africa in Kolkata, the odds are slim. It is true that he is in sensational form right now and has been brutal against every team.
But he is on the 48-century mark right now and needs to score 2 centuries in 2 matches to make sure he reaches that mark on his birthday. Which is difficult no matter who the batsman is. But we know that if someone can do this, it is King Kohli.
